Coolsculpting FAQ

Coolsculpting’s taken the world by storm and with good reason. Whereas for years, physical trainers, dietitians, and doctors have been saying there’s no way to lose fat on just one specific part of your body, Coolsculpting is a non-invasive way of doing just that – removing those stubborn pockets of fat that, no matter how much you diet and workout, just won’t go away. Sure, your partner may claim that your love handles are totally loveable or that your little pot belly is cute as a button, but if you’re going after your ideal body, these fat pockets that just won’t go away can become major frustrations. That’s where Coolsculpting and its revolutionary, non-invasive method of using cold to, ironically, melt away fat comes in. You may still be wondering if Coolsculpting is right for you so here are some of the most common questions people have about this remarkable procedure:

Which areas can be targeted?

CoolSculpting treats visible fat bulges in the submental area (such as a double chin or fat around the jaw line), thigh, abdomen and flank, as well as bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks |(aka the banana roll) and the upper arm.

Does the fat come back?

Once the fat is frozen and chrystalzed, it dies and is processed and eliminated from the body. Bye bye!

What does it feel like?

For the first 5-10 minutes, you will feel a cold sensation in the area being targeted, but this soon dissipates and the area goes numb (besides, it’s Montreal – we’re used to the cold). You may also feel some pulling.

What happens after the treatment?

You get a nice 2-3 minute massage, and then the vast majority of patients are able to go about their regular daily activities.

When will I see results?

Results appear as quickly as 3 weeks following the treatment, with the most dramatic results being seen after 2 months. You’ll continue to flush out fat cells for up to 4-6 months after treatment. Talk about value!

Is it safe?

Of course! Coolsculpting went through extensive testing to receive FDA and Health Canada approval. Only individuals who have adverse reactions to cold, such as those suffering from cryoglobulinemia, should avoid it (but they should probably also avoid living in Montreal during the winter as well).

Do I need to exercise or diet to see results?

No. Coolsculpting is independent of any diet or exercise program. That said its results work best when there is some muscle underneath the fat it burns away, and when you’re not actively trying to add more fat by huffing down chocolate cakes. Remember, this is a body sculpting technique, not liposuction – it’s here to make sure your body lives up to its max potential, so any extra care you take of it will make the results of Coolsculpting all the more effective.
